You got up and walked over to the door, watching as the cat scurried into your bed and hid under the covers. "Loki," you laughed, shaking your head. "It's just the guy whose gonna make it less cold in here."

You unlocked the door and swung it open, being greeted by a tall tan man with black and aging hair. He looked to be around fifty, and he held a small tool box in one hand, in the other carrying his cellphone and a new thermostat. It was Dave.

"Hey, Dave." You smiled at him and opened the door more to let him inside your apartment.
"Hey, _______," he smiled back at you warmly and stepped inside, setting his tool box down on the floor next to the opening of the door. You closed it behind him, letting the cold air stay in the hallway and out of your just-warmed apartment. "So what was the problem?"

You lead him over to the wall that held the small thermostat, explaining how you left it at seventy-five degrees and how it was forty-two the next morning. He glanced at your peculiarly, slightly not believing you. But he had to, he wanted to get paid, didn't he? He tapped the thermostat and few times, and took it off it's platform. He examined the wiring, and adjusted them, figuring it should fix the problem.

"Well, there seems to be nothing wrong with the device itself," Dave educated you, twisting and turning a screw driver in his hand. "The thing's wired up perfectly. I guess it was just a window that was left open."

"But I closed all of them," you protested, crossing your arms over your chest. "And I remember I turned it to that temperature in which I was comfortable sleeping."

"I guess not." He shrugged, his dark brown eyes studying you hard.

"Mrrow."

Shit.

Loki came running out from your bedroom, merely running. He padded up to you and rubbed between your legs, then sat on his haunches and lifted his paws up to you. You bent over and picked him up, holding him like a baby. "Loki, why were you hiding?" You asked the black cat, half upset that it had come out. You didn't have a licence to own it in your apartment, and there was a fee of two-hundred dollars per month to have it.

Dave looked at the cat, not showing any real anger towards it. "You know you're not supposed to have a cat in here, ______"

You looked at him, and gave him a cheeky smile, lifting your shoulders up in a sort of innocent manner. "Sorry," you squeaked, looking down at the floor then back at him. "He found his way into my home."

"I'll let it slide," Dave waved his hand at you and the cat, closing his eyes as if to tell you that he didn't really care. That was a perk of knowing your maintenance man, he'd keep his mouth shut about whatever dirty secret you kept.

Unless you were cooking meth up in apartment 7A; that of course was a problem, which everyone knew about.

"What'd you name him, anyway?"
"Well, he had a name."
"And that was..."
"Loki," you smiled and scratched behind the cat's ear, and he purred loudly.
"You mean after that bastard God who had tore up this whole city?" Dave asked, his eyes widening.

Loki jumped a little in your arms, and he looked at Dave. His eyes grew dark green, and he started to growl.

"Guess he doesn't want you trash-talking his name like that, Dave." You chuckled, watching as Dave fell back a step. You and Dave laughed, finding it funny how a cat was so offended over a little remark about the God of Mischief. You put Loki down for a minute, and the tomcat followed you as you lead Dave out the door.

As Dave picked up his items, Loki hissed and swiped at his hands, his long claws extending and almost touching Dave's callused skin.

"Loki!" You scolded, picking him up with your foot and putting him away. "Bad, you don't swipe."
"It's fine, _______," Dave laughed, holding his hand as if it was hurt. "I deserved it."

He stood in the doorway, you leaning on the door as you both laughed. He looked at you with soft eyes, as a father would to his daughter who had done something to really be proud of, like become a doctor or a writer. You guys talked for a moment more, and then someone called him, signaling that it was time for him to leave. You watched him waltz out of your hallway and down the flights of stairs that lead into the lobby two floors below you.

You closed the door and looked back at Loki, who was sitting on the coffee table with a smug look on his face.

"You," you started, walking over to him and picking him up. You brought him close to your body, hugging him and kissing his cheek. "You need to be nicer." You spoke to him in a  baby voice and he purred loudly, running his rough tongue over your lips a few times, making you giggle. "Ewy," you laughed, setting him down on the couch. "Cat spit." You ruffled the soft fur on his head and walked around the table and back onto your seat on the couch, pulling your laptop over your lap. Loki casually walked over the laptop, pressing multiple keys and waving his tail over your nose, making it tickle.

"Loki," you giggled, watching as he did it again. He seemed to smirk and look back at you as he did it again. He then stepped onto the computer, curling up on the keys with one paw hanging over the edge,  and his tail tip resting on his nose. He looked up at you with those beautiful blue-green eyes that never failed to show your reflection.

"Lokiiiiiii." You groaned his name and sat back on the couch, looking up at the ceiling. "Come on, I need to check my stuffs." The tom purred, pleased to have annoyed you in the slightest.

He got up and pranced off of your laptop, pressing many keys as he did so. He settled on curling up next to you, resting along the length of your thigh as if watching the door. You pet him with one hand as you scrolled through your notifications on several websites with the other. He purred softly, his blue eyes closing slightly.

You closed the laptop after two hours of browsing, realizing you were reaching a limit of usage. Your battery was nearly dead, and your eyes burned. Loki jumped at the sudden sound, awakening from a little cat-nap in the comfort of your leg. You wanted to go out and do something, get out of the house, but you had the cat for this meantime. The black tom yawned and looked up at you, it's eyes still cloudy with sleep.

"Aww, nugget," you gawked at his messed up fur and tired exposure and couldn't help laugh at the cuteness. "Your fur's all messed up." You pat down the stuck up pieces of fur, and he rubbed his body according to your hand. Once you finally had all the fluffed up patches back to their former glory, you nodded your head, pleased with your work. "If you wanna go out for a little bit, I'll open up the window." You asked him, nodding towards the window.

The tom blinked, continuing to stay in his spot right next to you.
"Guess that's a no."

You stretched and leaned over to put the laptop back on the coffee table, and as you laid back again, the cat jumped onto your lap, kneading your knees and thighs before sitting right in the middle of your legs. His eyes looked at you intently, and you stared back at him.

"Staring contest, hmm?" You asked him, widening your eyes widely, preparing yourself to stare. "Ready, set, go." You stared into the cat's eyes, getting all up in his non-moving face. Your eyes started to burn, and you blinked, unable to beat the cat in your silly human-games. You backed away from his face and crossed your arms over your chest. "You win, Loki," you admitted, shrugging.

"How are your eyes so pretty?" You grabbed his face in your hands and tilted his face to one side, watching as the light reflected off of his beautiful eyes. He let you handle his face, looking at your thumbs as they held close to the corner of his sapphire eyes. "Hm..." You let go of his face and he shook his head quickly, as if questioning how weird you were. Why am I talking to a cat, anyway? You asked yourself, finding yourself weird.

You settled on watching movies for the rest of the day, Loki curling up right in your lap, watching with you. You watched your favorite movies, and rented some new releases for a dollar each.

You ended up falling asleep on the couch, and when you awoke, it was due to a loud clap of thunder, followed by a flash of lightning. The t.v was now covered in static, and making an awful white noise that penetrated deep into your ears. You sat up on the couch, looking around the apartment for the cat, who was no longer on your lap.

The window was slid wide open, letting the cold breeze chatter the warmth of your apartment again. You got up and turned the t.v off, and just as that happened, you heard a glass shatter in the kitchen.

You screamed and jumped slightly, heart pounding from the sudden noise in the dead silence of the whole building. You looked around the counter and saw that the kitchen light was on, and you could see a figure moving inside it.

"Loki...?" You called out, taking a step toward the room, silently hoping that it was just the cat. Something's not right. You looked towards the window as another crack of thunder sounded, and then closed your eyes, sighing. Jesus, calm down; its just a storm. "Here, kitty, kitty, kit-"

A gloved hand covered your mouth.

You let out a blood curdling scream, but it was muffled by the soft fabric in between your lips. The mysterious person walked backward, dragging you back towards the couch. You kicked and thrashed in their grasp, clawing at the hand that covered most of your hand. Another tall figure walked out of the kitchen, wearing all black with a ski mask on.

The first one held you in place as the other walked towards you, pulling a gun out of the waistband of his jeans. He cocked it with his thumb and walked up towards you. "Shh, shh, it's alright."

You heard him smile, and you breathed harder and faster, fearing each breath as your last. He held the gun up to the front of your face, and then swung it against the side of your head, causing you to almost black out. The guy holding you let you fall to the floor, which lead you to land straight onto the coffee table's edge, causing a nasty gash to form.

You could barely keep your eyes open.
You could feel your heartbeat in your eyes.
You could hear your heartbeat as you realized you were about to get shot.

You opened your eyes in a dizzy haze, a headache creeping it's way from the side of your head in which you were hit. You saw the gun pointed right at you, and then suddenly, a bright blue light illuminated from the window, and you blinked again as a loud clap of thunder shook the whole house. Blue light streamed towards the two men that broke into your house, and enveloped them in a bright blue orb, and then dissipated with them gone.

You struggled to keep your eyes open, and could hear heavy footsteps sauntering over to you. You closed your eyes, and opened them again, watching as someone knelt down in front of you.

Green and black.
Gold scepter.
Bright green-blue eyes.
"Shh, darling, it's alright," a slight British voice. "I'll keep you safe, my dear."

Your eyes closed for good.
Unconscious.
Now who's in my house?
**Loki, Iron Man, Tony Stark, The Avengers, and any other references belong to Marvel. I own all other characters introduced into this series.**

So for all my Loki fans, I bring you this. I hope some of you enjoy this, as I enjoy writing it. (: I myself am in love with Loki, and I found this to be a fun little project for my Loki needs, haha. Chapters are in high demand, and I'm actually proud of this fanfiction! :D
